- A vegetable garden also provides an opportunity to sell excess produce, thereby supplementing the finances of the preschool.

Preschools 4 Africa Mentorship Programme

This early childhood development programme provides Whole-school mentorship for Early Childhood Centres on a social franchise model overseen by our Play-with-a-Purpose Trust. Early Childhood Development centres are sponsored for training and mentorship on the Play-with-a-Purpose curriculum and programme. The primary focus is in under-resourced areas such as informal settlements; or townships however the standard is high enough that affluent preschools self-fund to be part of the programme as well.
Preschools 4 Africa’s Play-with-a-Purpose Whole-school training for sponsored and self-funded schools includes:
- Access to Play-with-a-Purpose course materials.
- Weekly training sessions are held at a variety of training sites across the country.
- Mentoring including classroom management skills as well as aspects needed to run a preschool, such as accounts, establishing systems, nutrition etc.
- Access to Ongoing Professional Development workshops, Early Childhood Development conferences and annual Awards Event for Early Childhood Development.
The Play-with-a-Purpose programme is unique because it merges behaviour-based learning theories within a neuroscientific framework providing a powerful perspective on teaching and learning. The programme has been a part of research done at Monash University, South Africa in addition to being featured in a research article in an International Journal of Child and Youth Care Practice (RCYCP).
